The full time corkman

Posted by Nicholas Dunn on

well since I last sat down and wrote a blog.. a whole host of changes have set in..

I jacked the farming. moved out of my house into a long wheel base transit van, and then put everything on the line to give stoglemans my full commitment.

daunting, but I have not regretted one day of it.

iv managed probably less than 10 nights this spring, its now June, im sitting on more tickets than I have had in years and im shortly off to America to visit my brother. upon my return im going to sink myself into some nice fishing for beautiful and rare carp.., im also going to be rolling the pilgrim mix as a food bait. its not going to be cheap, my current pricing stands at over £9.50 a kilo cost. im hoping to get that down a bit and pass that on to offer the best bait I can at a more reasonable price, but with the inclusion of Full fat Green lipped mussel and my in house GLM liquid food made from raw green lipped mussels.. the price is never going to be £3 kilo.. but Its not going to be the sort of bait you want to be feeding the whole of seaworld with.. I regularly use it with hemp, tigers and maize when I require heavier baiting. but I find it very very good in smaller quantities.. im quietly content with a couple of handfuls over each rod, a bait with the levels of high quality ingredients found in the pilgrim mix in such a soluble form is not common and I really do think less is more..  how often do you watch people filling it in, how done to death are the huge beds of bait, fine if you have the time to sit on it and wait. but if like me you find yourself with less free time to do what you love..  a small amount of a bait that is breaking down and leaking off into the immediate area as soon as you put it in that the fish feel the benefit of eating does as much as kilos and kilos of bait doing half as much. but that's my own theory and im not shitting on anyone else's bait, I respect so many people out their making bait and in recent years when I was ruled by farm work and rolling hook baits and gave myself just enough time to drink a coffee and eat a pot noodle for dinner, I have been happy to use a couple of other bait companies out there whom I trust entirely to supply me with excellent bait (big up aqua bait and Oxford carp baits)

I do not intend to compete with anyone. my services will be limited to what I can roll in 2 days of my working week, the rest of the time I will maintain my original task of supplying the best hook baits I can..

  • 9.50 a kg is well reasonable for the amount of work going into them. Can’t wait to use them, all your hookbaits are absolutely off the scale
